How to Look Up Your Doctor’s License.

Yes… you can look up your doctor’s license at the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation or “IDFPR” website. The information is free.
Use the following procedure to look up the license:

1. Visit: http://www.idfpr.com
2. Click on  “Search and Verify Licenses” tab;
3. Enter the name of the physician you are looking up along with the specialty. If it is a dentist you are looking up then enter “Dentist” under profession. This section tells you the specialty of the physician, his or her license number, when the license was first issued and whether it is active. It also tells you whether or not the physician has ever been disciplined for any reason.

You can also check the physician’s profile by following this procedure.

1. Look at the “Search and Verify licenses” tab but instead strike the arrow next to tab to reveal a different menu;
2. Scroll down to “Physician Profile;”
3. Enter physician’s name and press search;
4. You will be directed to a main page where you will find numerous tabs.

This section tells you the physician’s address, what hospital the physician practices at, what insurance the physician accepts, and whether or not the physician has any judgments or verdicts against him or her.  This section also tells you whether or not the physician has settled any malpractice claims.

Follow Your Case Online

In Cook County, you can follow your case online at the Clerk of the Circuit Court’s website.
The procedure is as follows:

1. Enter the following website address http://www.cookcountyclerkofcourt.org
2. When you enter the site you will see a menu along the left side.
3. Click on “Online Case Info;”
4. Click on “Full Electronic Docket Search;”
5. Under division name choose “Law;”
6. Go to the “Search by Name” section, or if you know your case number go to enter case number. (Note if you enter the case number, the first four number are the year that the case was filed.  The next section requires you to enter the letter “L” which indicated “Law Division.”  The last section is the remaining number.  If your case number is less than six characters, please enter zeros before your number’
7. Under the “Search by Name” section, enter whether you are looking for “Plaintiff:” or “Defendant:”
8. Select the “Search Now” section and look for your case name.

Note: this site will give you the procedural history of the case only.  You will be able to see when the last time the case was up in court and who the parties are represented by.  You will also be able to see when your case will come before the Court in the future.
